What are Omega-3 and why are they needed?
Omega-3 fatty acids (EFAs), also known as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). They are derived from both animal and plant sources, although Omega-3 from fish oil is the most common form of dietary supplement. Fatty acids make up the main part of healthy fats and are necessary for health in general. Since the body cannot produce essential fatty acids, we must obtain them from food or a supplemental source.
What does "Without potentially dangerous levels of mercury, heavy metals, surfactants, dioxins and other potentially harmful substances" mean to us?
All fish contain impurities due to anthropogenic pollution or natural pollution in seas and fresh waters. NOW Foods ensures that all products are tested for contamination. All fish oil products are evaluated for a number of contaminants. Heavy metals and mercury are tested using a sophisticated instrument, and this testing is done in the NOW lab on an ongoing basis. NOW's standards are stricter than most other manufacturers. World standards and the European Standards Commission have recognized a high level of purification of fatty acids from surfactants and dioxins. These standards are safety standards.
NOW Foods laboratories also test fish oil for other contaminants, such as bacteria and pathogens. Because of all the additional purification steps (absorbent technologies, molecular distillation), taking NOW fish oil is generally even safer, than just eating fish.
Why is NOW Omega-3 molecularly distilled?
Omega-3 fish oil is obtained from fish caught in the ocean waters of Norway and Peru and is usually processed using high vacuum molecular distillation. This technology ensures the production of high-quality EPA/DHA Omega-3 triglycerides and minimizes the presence of impurities. Sardines, anchovies and mackerel are the main types of fish used in the production of NOW Omega-3.
Special coating of the capsule.
Special coatings of enteric capsules for molecularly distilled Omega 3 protect the contents of the capsule from stomach acid. Under the influence of gastric juice, the capsule becomes soft, but fish oil is released only in the intestines, under the influence of an alkaline environment. This allows people to freely take Omega-3 fish oil without experiencing the unpleasant taste of the fish oil itself.
Does not contain cholesterol.
Support of the cardiovascular system.
Recommendations
2 capsules 1-3 times a day with a meal with a glass of water. Do not take on an empty stomach. To eliminate the unpleasant smell from fish oil, it is recommended to take it simultaneously with sauerkraut, cucumbers or juices.
